本版教材沿襲了之前的編寫體例，以學習任務驅動學生自主學習；保留了Notes 部分，方便學生自學查閱和教師備課。本版教材共 18 個單元，36 篇閱讀材料，編者更新了其中的 34 篇，僅保留了互聯網金融和電動汽車這兩個主題。新增的閱讀材料除了涉及國別經濟、經濟全球化、區域經濟合作、公司發展、環保、能源、投資、科技等較傳統的主題外，還包括英國脫歐、一帶一路、股市熔斷、共享經濟、零工經濟、短視頻發展等最新的內容。傳統主題也選擇了有代表性的、較熱門的內容，如能源主題，編者選擇了“石油期貨價格收于負值”；投資主題，選擇了“黃金/比特幣價格暴漲”；區域經濟合作主題，選擇了“區域全面經濟伙伴關系（RCEP）”；科技主題，選擇了“5G”等。
